Bird watching around different attractions, in the clear water lakes and rivers over more than twenty days is one of the special excursions of many tours around Southern Mongolia.


Itinerary

Day 1.   Ulaanbaatar

The tour starts with arrival at Ulaanbaatar and transfers to the accommodated hotel. Begin the Ulaanbaatar city tour including the Sukhbaatar square, Gandan monastery and the Chingis Khaan Museum. Stay overnight in the hotel.


Day 2.  Elsen Tasarkhai

Drive to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune, a combination of mountain, forest, and Gobi Desert landscapes that create spectacular scenery. Spend the afternoon birdwatching and stay in a tent for the night.


Day 3.  Ogii Lake

Trip to Ogii Lake, located in Arkhangai province in Central Mongolia. You will stay overnights in a ger by the lake.


Day 4.  Ogii Lake

By Ogii Lake, spend the day bird watching around the lake and sleep overnight in a tent.


Day 5.  Ogii Lake

The previous day's tour continues

Day 6.  Kharkhorin

Drive to Kharkhorin - the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire. Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery - the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Stay overnight in a ger.


Day 7.  Orkhon River

Excursion to Orkhon River, and stay there for bird watching. Another night in a tent.


Day 8.  Sangiin Dalai Lake

Drive to the Sangiin Dalai Lake, which is a saltwater lake located in northern Mongolia. Spend the afternoon bird watching and sleep another night in tents.


Day 9.  The South Gobi

Next two days, drive to South Gobi for another bird-watching experience and visit the Flaming Cliffs (dinosaur excavation site), Saxaul Forest, and Yol Valley (Vulture’s Gorge) in the Gobi Gurvan Saikhan Mountains. Yol Valley is a deep gorge with many rocky cliffs along with a frozen Yol stream nearly year-round. Stay the night in a tent.


Day 10.  The South Gobi

Day 12.  Khongor Sand dune 

Excursion to the magnificent Khongor sand dune and visit a camel breeding family. Get on a two-humped Mongolian camel and stay overnight in a ger.


Day 13.  Baga Gazryn Chuluu

Drive to Dundgobi (Middle Gobi) and to Baga Gazryn Chuluu, rocks with amazing natural shape formation.


Day 14.  Dundgobi (Middle Gobi)

Spend the day bird watching on the steppes. Stay overnight in a tent. 


Day 15.  Ulaanbaatar

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar, and check into the hotel room.


Day 16.  Terelj National Park

Excursion to the famous Terelj National Park, exploring the scenic mountain areas abundant with edelweiss fields. Bird watching in the area and staying overnight in a ger camp.


Day 17.  Terelj National Park

The previous day's tour continues

Day 18.  Ulaanbaatar

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and stay overnight in the hotel.


Day 19.  Departure 

Transfer to the airport for departure.

Shared double accommodation in a decent middle-class hotel in Ulaanbaatar, night stays in Mongolian Gers and tents, full board, all transfers, entrance fees, and guide service.
