An extended 16 days tour will take place in Central and South of Mongolia. You will get to visit the most famous historical monasteries in the country, where you will be exposed to the significant cultural insights and ruins left from ancient Buddhist Lamaism sights around Mongolia. Not only the tour focuses on religious and Buddhist monasteries, but you will also have trips to many different tourist attractions including the Golden Gobi, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire, Khorgo National Park, and many more.
The tour starts with arrival at Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, and transfers to the hotel. Begin the city sightseeing tour, including the most famous spots of the Sukhbaatar Square, Gandan monastery, and the Choijin Lama Temple. Stay overnight in the hotel.
Drive to Dundgobi (Middle Gobi). Visit the Gumpil Darjaalin Monastery at Adaazag sum. Drive to Erdenedalai sum. Stay overnight in the Mongolian traditional ger for the night..
We will continue the journey to the South Gobi, called Umnugobi. After arriving at the tourist camp, you will be accommodated to a ger camp.
Today begins with a drive to the sand dune. Along with the beautiful scenery and sightseeing, you will get to experience the sand dune. One of the specialties of Golden Gobi is to visit camel breeders and try riding a two-humped camels. Stay overnight in a ger.
Excursion to the Yol Valley (Vulture’s Gorge). It’s a deep gorge with many rocky cliffs along with a frozen Yol stream nearly year around. During lunch, you will get to have a picnic in the nature. Surrounded by the glazier and the spectacular view, enjoy the day by hiking, photographing, and relaxing in the beautiful nature.
Excursion to the Flaming Cliffs (dinosaur excavation site) and saxaul forest. Enjoy the rest of the day and stay overnight in ger.
Drive from the mountain area to the steppe of Middle Gobi. After visiting one of the biggest monasteries Ongiin Khiid (Ongi Monastery) located at the foot of Mount Saikhan Ovoo, then stay the night in the ger camp.
Drive to Kharkhorin - the ancient capital of the Mongolian Empire, on the way visit to visit Shankh Monastery, one of Mongolia’s oldest and most historically significant functioning monasteries till today. You will then stay overnight in a ger.
Visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery, the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Begin the excursion to the Orkhon River. Overnight in a ger.
Drive to Tsetserleg, the capital of Arkhangai province in Central Mongolia. Visit the Nature Museum and the Zayiin Gegeen Monastery. Drive to Ikh Tamir soum and stay overnight in a ger.
Drive to Khorgo National Park, located in the Khangai mountains. It is a wonderful place with extinct volcanoes and lava caves. Drive to clear freshwater Terkh White Lake (61sq.km) and stay overnight in a ger.
Excursion to the Tariat Monastery. Visit a herdsman’s family, which breeds yaks. You will sleep in a ger.
Drive to Tsenkher natural springs via Tsetserleg and explore the area. You can get in the Tsenkher hot springs or take a bath. Spend the evening relaxing and sleep in Ger camp.
Drive to Bayangobi, and visit Khogno Khan National Park which features many historical sites and monasteries from the 17th-century Monastery. Overnight in ger.
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Spend some free time and stay overnight in a hotel.
Visit Dashchoinlin Monastery and take a trip to the Bogd Khan Mountain. Visit the ruins of Manzushir Monastery. Overnight in Hotel.
Transfer to airport for departure.
Photography and filming is only permitted within some monasteries with fees.
